The Mad Hatter

The Mad Hatter

Presented by The Mills Station Arts and Culture Center (MACC) at Mills Station Arts and Cultural Center (The MACC)

It is hard to image over 800 hats in one location, filling the walls, displays and maniquine heads but the MACC has such an exhibit. All the hats that will be on display at the MACC's 'Mad Hatter' exhibit is from one collector here in Rancho Cordova. As a desire to preserve history she rescued these hats from thrift stores, antique shops, and boutiques. The MACC purchased the collection from Barbara Alfidi, local long time Rancho Cordova resident because we thought it would make a great exhibit.

The hats range from 1800s to about 1980s and the variety of the hats are as impressive. You will find walls of woven, felt, feathered, flowered, beaded, and mourning hats. There is even a selfie wall with a select group of hats to choose from. With the exception of the selfie wall this is a do not touch, eat or drink in the gallery, but it will not disappoint you. You don't even have to like hats to enjoy the enormity of this exhibit.

Along with the exhibit we have our usual line up of fun activities - Free Concert on the Porch (food truck, and wine & beer available), art workshops, movies, and Even a High Tea Fundraiser for the Soroptomists of Rancho Cordova/Gold River.  Come check out the MACC, Admission is always free.

In addition to the Mad Hatter we have our spotlight artist photographer Richard McHenry in our upstairs gallery with 'Photographic Short Stories'.  Richard is an extremely talented photographer who works with female models.
