Babette's Feast

Babette's Feast

Presented by St. Francis Catholic High School at St. Francis Theatre

Adapted from the short story by Isak Dinesen, conceived and developed for the stage by Abigail Kileen and Directed at Portland Stage in 2018 by Rose Courtney, Babette's Feast, tells the story of a mysterious French refugee who, through her brand of radical hospitality, converts her guests' deeply held notions of scarcity and judgment to open them up to give and receive abundant grace by way of a meal which is nothing short of a miracle. The critically acclaimed 1987 Dutch film of the same name is a faithful adaptation of Dinesen's short story and is currently available on HBO Now.

Babette's Feast is presented without an intermission and runs about 80 minutes.
The theatre will be sold at reduced capacity and some seats will be blocked to encourage distancing. Masks must be worn in all indoor spaces, including during the performance.
