The American River College Theatre welcomes you to the witty and whimsical world of Oscar Wilde’s comic tour de force, The Importance of Being Earnest.

This romantic, stylish, and oh-so-British play never fails to charm, as it ushers audiences into the flamboyant world of the 1895 English upper crust. The show features two carefree bachelors, Jack and Algernon, each with a carefully hidden double life. But when Algernon discovers that Jack has been posing as a man named Ernest to escape to the city, he promptly travels to Jack’s country estate to pose as the fictional figure himself!  Silliness ensues when the men encounter two beauties equal to their rank and wit, as well as an indomitable dowager, Lady Bracknell, who threatens to upend everyone's romantic plans.
