ABC10, in partnership with the Office of Arts and Culture – City of Sacramento, is proud and excited to announce a large-scale mural will be painted on two sides of the station’s brick building. The vibrant and permanent mural is made possible through Community Murals Sacramento, an innovative pilot program funded by the City of Sacramento and designed to elevate the voices of neighborhoods across each of Sacramento’s eight districts. Plus, the initiative will include a fun hands-on Community Paint Day.

Community Murals Sacramento is a project that teams up established and emerging muralists, all with diverse professional experiences, ethnicities, gender identities, and ages. Each team partners with neighborhood community stakeholders, including school districts, community centers, houses of worship, neighborhood associations, business associations, and interested local residents.

ABC10 is part of the District 4 “Team Broadway” with lead artist Ryan Rhodes joined by talented assistant artists Stefhani Godinez, Brooke Mathews, and Gerardo Zambrano. While the ABC10 mural design will not be unveiled until a later date, the diverse and eye-catching creative is dynamic in color with an infusion of pop culture elements and highlighted by local people and points of interest.

On Community Paint Day, all ages are welcome, no experience is necessary, supplies will be provided, and no advance registration is required. Painting participants will be given clear instruction and will also enjoy entertaining live music and informative vendor booths that add to the memorable experience.

The ABC10 mural – which will be painted directly onto the brick – is expected to be completed by the end of June.

For the District 4 “Team Broadway,” ABC10 is joined by involved partners including Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School, Mercy Housing and Councilmember Katie Valenzuela (District 4).
