Monthly Meeting: How to Succeed at Interviews

Presented by CWC Sacramento at Online/Virtual Space

Hello writers!

This month, the group is excited to present Ed Goldman. Ed is a syndicated columnist, author of five books, professionally produced playwright, composer and lyricist, and visual artist. He will be discussing how to succeed at interviews. In nearly 52 years as a professional writer, Ed has interviewed senators, governors, captains of industry, lawyers, film stars, and (literally) ditch diggers. They all have one thing in common, they want to tell you their stories. Here’s how to encourage them to do so—and then, how to write about it.

You will learn how to put interviewees at ease (and where), make the most of your and their time, separate the wheat from the chaff (i.e., the truth from the hype), how to prepare, and how to follow up.

Ed Goldman is a writer, painter, and composer. He has worked for the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the Los Angeles Times, Sacramento Magazine, Comstock’s Magazine, the Sacramento Business Journal, and The Goldman State. He has published five books, written two professionally produced plays, written for movies and television, and taught college courses in journalism, broadcasting, and public relations.
