Mission JOY: Finding Happiness In Troubled Times

Mission JOY: Finding Happiness In Troubled Times

Presented by Sacramento Valley Psychological Association at Guild Theater

In this 90-minute documentary, guests learn about the importance of cultivating a practice of joy for mental wellness, and this is told through the friendship and spirit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu. "In their final joint mission, these self-described mischievous brothers give a master class in how to create joy in a world that was never easy for them. They offer neuroscience-backed wisdom to help each of us live with more joy, despite circumstances."

Following the screening, they will have a moderated panel discussion to process important themes from the film as well as highlighting the valuable role of sparking important conversations about mental health in the communities. Panelists include Dr. Kristee Haggins, Dr. Jonathan Porteus, and Jason Jong.

This Mission JOY event will give you tools to bring joy into your life to improve your physical and mental health – as proven by science - while also empowering you to create and share everyday acts of joy to benefit ourselves and each other.

Circumstances don’t control your emotions and don’t have to wait for joy.

You will learn how to build an active wellness practice so that you can create your own joy so that you can take care of yourselves, take care of each other and can cultivate joy in troubled times.

If you plan on bringing a guest, please indicate in your registration so that they can make sure there is a seat for everyone.
