Delve into the innovative and pioneering spirit of visionary women photographers of the last century with Andrea Nelson, Associate Curator at the National Gallery of Art. On this rare visit to Sacramento, Nelson discusses the seminal contributions of women photographers like Dorothea Lange, Ruth Orkin, and Berenice Abbott, many of whom have been at the forefront of photography’s most well-known movements and styles. Nelson also shares her own work organizing the National Gallery of Art’s 2021 exhibition The New Woman Behind the Camera, which dovetails intriguingly with the Crocker’s presentation of Modern Women | Modern Vision: Photography From the Bank of America Collection.
