Hermosa Rebeldía: Art by Xico González

Hermosa Rebeldía: Art by Xico González

Presented by The University Union Gallery at Sacramento State - University Union Gallery

A selection of posters created by Xico González over the last 15 years for social justice rallies, protests, and marches.

Hermosa Rebeldía features selected works that were used in the frontlines of the struggle for equity and social justice. The posters address issues related to unjust immigration laws, police brutality, Indigenous rights, educational access, Black Lives Matter, decolonization, Islamophobia, and other social issues affecting underrepresented communities. The works in the exhibition were created digitally and printed as single banners and as posters in editions ranging from 100 to 2500 copies over the past 15 years. These posters were given to the masses to visually enhance our collective voices in rallies, marches, and protests. The posters were distributed in Sacramento, Stockton, Santa Rosa, Oakland, San Francisco, Los Ángeles, and other cities in California, and the United States.

Hermosa Rebeldía is sponsored by Nopal (Stockton), NorCal Resist (Sacramento), Sol Collective (Sacramento), and Raizes Collective (Santa Rosa).
