Wings of Desire (1987) - Wim Wenders
Introduced by local director, cinematographer, and California State University, Sacramento film professor Kathy Kasic, Wings of Desire is an arthouse favorite about angel Damiel falling in love with Marion, a beautiful trapeze artist. Shot at a moment in history when the Berlin Wall seemed destined to divide the city in perpetuity, Wender’s film is an elegiac “city symphony.” Wings of Desire was co-conceived with Peter Handke and filmed in both color and black and white by Henri Alekan, and it cemented Wender’s reputation for creating thought provoking film art.
