Behind the Apron

Behind the Apron

Presented by Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre at The Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts

Behind the Apron is a behind-the-scenes look at the restaurant industry, where the curtain is pulled back and the vulnerable aspect of working as a server is shown. Under the direction of Jacob GutiƩrrez-Montoya, the dance theatre performance will feature a beautiful display of athletic, emotional storytelling that will expose the audience to important themes surrounding mental health, emotional well-being, addiction, and suicide.

A two-show performance will educate the audience about the importance of mental health in the restaurant industry while also raising funds for I Got Your Back. I Got Your Back is an organization founded by Bobbin and Patrick Mulvaney with the goal of reducing the stigma associated with mental health difficulties in the food industry and providing guidance to those who need it.

Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre will be the medium for a message that transforms adversity into hope and isolation into community. You'll walk out of the theater knowing that you're not alone, that there's someone to talk to, an ear to hear, and a heart that's open without judgement.
