The Brickhouse Gallery and Art Complex will open Photography Month with new emerging artists; Cheyenne Araujo and Yann Lapnet photography exhibition Out of Orbit, Still In Rotation.
Creative photographer Cheyenne Araujo said, "Born out of the realization that the creative process is different to every artist, Out of Orbit, Still In Rotation is a personal expression that refers to a person or situation that is no longer following the expected norms or conventions but is still continuing to exist and evolve in some way.
Black photographers have shaped and been the documentarian of Black Culture, and history, and controlling the narrative of our history in this country. We've had phenomenal Black Photographers such as James Van Der Zee, Ernest Withers, Carrie Mae Weems, Gordon Parks, Michelle V. Agins, Don Hogan Charles, Lorna Simpson, P.H. Polk, Florestine Perrault Collins, and Roy DeCarava all who had this innate ability to capture through their lens, the life stories in a single picture.
'Out of Orbit, Still In Rotation' is meant to inspire an urgent sense of exploration for life as it is."
