One of the most popular symphonies of all time opens the 2023-24 season of the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, exploring American themes. Dvořák’s towering masterpiece, Symphony No. 9, “From the New World” anchors a program with Copland’s beloved Lincoln Portrait and and Derrick Skye’s sonic search for beauty Prisms, Cycles, Leaps. Known for her incisive presence on the podium, conductor Cosette Justo Valdés leads the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera and SP and O Chorus.

An optional pre-concert lecture begins at 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6:15 pm.
