Renaissance Society Summer Series: Asian Experiences in California

Renaissance Society Summer Series: Asian Experiences in California

Presented by The Renaissance Society at CSU Sacramento (Sacramento State)

The Renaissance Society of Sacramento provides opportunities for participatory lifelong learning and community engagement for older adults. Every summer we offer FREE informational seminars, a BYOB lunchtime, and tantalizing activities that are optional. Our topic this year is Celebrating Diversity:  Hearing Stories Never Told.

Before your presentation, enjoy: OPTIONAL TOUR, 9 am:  Sac State North Campus Outdoor Art Map Walk; meet at River Front.

TOPIC:   Asian Experiences in California

SPEAKER(s): Sacramento’s Chinatown and Japantown.  Sacramento had a thriving Chinatown and Japantown during different periods of the city’s history. Where were they located? When did they thrive? What are their legacies? What prompted the rise, flourishing and demise of these ethnic communities? The discussion will be led by Alfred Yee, alumnus and former faculty of CSU Sacramento and a native of Sacramento. Hybrid/Recorded.  In person; offered as Hybrid/Recorded.
