Come out for Second Saturday in Midtown for an all-day celebration of local artists, live music, family-friendly activities, nightlife, and more.

July highlights:
Check out Midtown Farmers Market for special Second Saturday activities including live music from local musicians and a new monthly pop-up wine and beer garden. Get tickets to the Garden here.

Fun and surprising family-friendly interactive arts performances will include glitter tattoos, face painting, giant bubbles, hands-on crafts, and a family-friendly free outdoor concert with Code Blues at Fremont Park. YMCA youth programming includes a Bigger Than Us Arts instrument petting zoo, and the Sacramento Public Library’s Mobile Mini Library will be available on-site. Plus, at 1pm Salsa and Bachata dance lessons will be offered by Dance on the Edge.

At 24th and K, attendees can sit back and enjoy open-air concerts by JAS (Jordan Simpson) from 4pm-5:45pm then DJ Freequency from 6pm-8pm Plus, family friendly activities will be available including an art market, face painting and other activities such as bubbles and a live mermaid.

At 20th and K, Second Saturday adventurers will find a sizable art market with spectacular artistic performances including hula dancers, a pop-up art gallery and live music.

Find art galleries, theatre shows and more all over Midtown during Second Saturday. A sampling of offerings to check out include:

-Archival Gallery (3223 Folsom Blvd.) – Guests will enjoy the Introduction Series, a Second Saturday public reception from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring the works of new, emerging artists and established artists who are showing at the Gallery for the first time.

-b. sakata garo (923 20th Street) – Second Saturday participants are encouraged to attend an artist reception for Northern Californian painter David Post from 5 to 7 p.m.

-B Street Theatre (2200 Capitol) – The community is invited to experience Insertion, their newest production and winner of their 2022 New Comedies Festival.

-Capital Stage (2215 J Street) – Those interested in a show should check out a performance of the west coast premiere of PREDICTOR by Jennifer Blackmer (showtimes are 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.). Doors plus a patio, wine and dessert bar will open for ticket holders one hour prior to showtimes.

-Elliott Fouts Gallery (1831 P Street) – Art lovers can discover a stylish, contemporary gallery dedicated to original landscape and still life paintings open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

-Sacramento Comedy Spot (1050 20th Street) – Guests looking for a laugh will enjoy Squad Patrol, a live, main-stage sketch comedy show, similar to Saturday Night Live and Key and Peele.

-SEED Ceramic Studio (1017 25th Street) – Those desiring a hands-on experience will find an interactive pinch pot workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. with an opportunity for everyone to learn more about how to make with clay while also engaging with material themselves.

-Self Designs Art Gallery (1117 18th Street) – Community members will enjoy the monthly outdoor courtyard concert featuring local musicians, poets, and singers.

-The Art Studios (1717 I Street) – From 4-9 p.m., guests can see and experience the public exhibition "Interior Worlds” which represents the vision and exploration of six women artists.

-United Methodist Church (1017 J Street) – Second Saturday attendees will have the opportunity to meet local artists showing their work, including oils, pastels, pencil, acrylic, ceramics, plants, jewelry and photography. Also, complimentary refreshments will be available at this free event.
