Waking the Village (WTV), a non-profit organization, leads two programs: Tubman House and ArtBeast Children’s Studio. Each program centers on an interactive environment that inspires growth and builds community.

Tubman House is a free, 18 month transitional living program for Sacramento’s homeless, parenting youth. At Tubman House, youth experience dynamic coursework, community support, counseling, and healthy living so that they leave prepared to be leaders in their own lives and the lives of their communities.

In 2009, Waking the Village launched ArtBeast Children’s Studio. Art Beast, an arts exploration space for children under 7, generates funding for Tubman, provides employment to Tubman clients, connects Tubman parents to the broader community of parents, and facilitates aftercare by providing all current and former clients with free memberships to visit often.
