Dangerous Lorraines DanceTheater is a performance group committed to the creation of contemporary and theatrical dance works. Originally founded in Huntsville, Texas in June 2004 by Artistic Director and choreographer Melissa Wynn, it was collaboratively directed with choreographer Lorelei Bayne for several years, and is now again solely directed by Melissa Wynn. Currently based in Sacramento, this project-based company features a range of dancers, actors, composers, musicians, and designers to produce exciting, enchanting, visceral performances.

The Dangerous Lorraines have presented work in the "Dance Houston Does Houston" showcase of up & coming choreographers at Theater in Houston, TX; the "Utopia Arts Extravaganza" in Huntsville, TX; the "ETC Dance Concert" (East Texas Dance Consortium) in Huntsville, TX; the "Festival of the Arts" at Sacramento State University; "8x8x8" Showcase in Berkeley, CA; the "SF Fringe Festival" in San Francisco; as part of "10.10.10" – the Grand Opening of the Crocker Arts Museum in Sacramento, CA; and in "6 Degrees" – a collaborative showcase with Dandelion Dance Theater, Randee Paufve and Della Davidson in Davis, CA.

The company presents its own seasonal concert approximately once a year, and DLDT has made several site-specific improvisation appearances as part of downtown Sacramento’s 2nd Saturdays Arts Walk.

It is our aim to build a nationally and internationally recognized dance theater company.

It is the mission of The Dangerous Lorraines to challenge and entertain audiences while pushing artistic limits.

Dangerous Lorraines DanceTheater is a member of Dancer’s Group in San Francisco, and has been the recipient of a 2008-2009 ArtScapes grant from the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.
