Color Fields Art and Reception

Color Fields Art and Reception

Presented by E Street Gallery and Studios at E Street Gallery and Studios

During the month of March, E Street Gallery will feature two abstract painters in "Color Fields."

Matt Rhoades and Cherie Hacker's art share common considerations in their painting process with vivid color, pattern, shape, and the formal elements of art and design. Most important is the dialog between the artist and the painting through a trust in the process, along with honed intuition and years of experience. Each artist follows their own artistic vision as they reflect on life and nature in spirited emotion clearly visible to the viewer.  Devoid of pursuing current art trends, Rhoades and Hacker speak a language of their own, and welcome guests to E Street Gallery for a unique glimpse into their art making.

Matt Rhoades, born in Oakland, was the co-founder of Southside Art Center Sacramento, a well respected program for people with developmental disabilities. Solo art exhibits include University of Southern Oregon, Montana Artist Refuge, Modesto Community College and The Grand Theatre of the Arts in Tracy, with an artist residency at the Ragdale Foundation in Chicago.

Cherie Hacker, born in Chicago, currently teaches through the Arts in Corrections Program at Mule Creek State Prison, and Los Rios Colleges. She is a recipient of project grants through the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.  Solo and Featured exhibits include Beatnik Studios, Cosumnes River College Gallery, Ardgillan Castle in Ireland, Kenneth B Gallery Oregon, Reno City Metro Gallery, and American Institute of Architects, Baltimore.
