50th Anniversary: The Beatles' White Album

50th Anniversary: The Beatles' White Album

Presented by Harris Center for the Arts at Harris Center for the Arts

A 40-piece orchestra featuring all-star area players, along with popular local singers/musicians and top students from The Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy (SPMA) will liberate the Beatles’ White Album from wax and perform the album in its entirety.

The Beatles’ White Album will feature Sacramento’s favorite master of ceremonies & entertainer/singer, Peter Petty (2018 Sammie Award Winner "Best Live Entertainer"); Kurt Spataro (Skyler’s Pool guitarist); Gabe Nelson (Cake/Bellygunner), and student Justice Nelkin, Casey Lipka (Singer/Bassist-Classical Revolution); Greg Williams and student Angelica Hays (lead guitarists); and student Simon MacBride (drums). Also featuring George Holden’s Liquid Light Show & Live Cinema.

SPMA, led by founder and ravenous Beatles fan Ben McClara, has painstakingly transcribed and arranged The Beatles’ White Album “In It’s Entirety,” for rhythm section + nine-piece strings section, six-piece woodwinds section, six-piece brass section, percussion, and four-person background choir. This concert is the major yearly fundraiser supporting the SPMA. For McClara, the staff and especially his music students learning so much about music and collaborative life skills, it’s what John Lennon and Paul McCartney meant about truth and higher consciousness when they sang “I’d love to turn you on.”
