Timed to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Sacramento History Museum -- in partnership with the California State Railroad Museum, Center for Sacramento History and the Crocker Art Museum -- is proud to present the Gold Spike Lecture Series that will take place April through September 2019.

-Thursday (4/18) 7pm: Mary Helmich presents "A Legacy In Brick and Iron: Sacramento's Central and Southern Pacific Shops" at the Sacramento History Museum
-Tuesday (5/7) 7pm: David Haward Bain presents "Overview of the Creation of the Transcontinental Railroad from 1842 to its Completion" at the California State Railroad Museum
-Thursday (6/27) 7pm: Richard White presents "The Transcontinental as a Business Venture and How it Shaped the American West" at the California State Railroad Museum
-Thursday (7/25) 7pm: William Deverell presents "California’s Complicated Relationship with the Railroad" at the California State Railroad Museum
-Thursday (8/22) 7pm: Gordon H. Chang presents "The Recovery and Interpretation of the Experiences of Chinese Railroad Workers in North America" at the California State Railroad Museum
-Saturday (9/7) 2pm: Glenn Willumson presents "Photographing the Transcontinental Railroad" at the Crocker Art Museum
