Dusk Until Dawn: Sacramento and Beyond (Photography Month Sacramento)

Presented by EDS Studio and Photography Month Sacramento at Judi's Cleaners

This photography event is part of Photography Month Sacramento.

Through the autumn of 2022 while walking the streets of Sacramento at dusk and at sunrise, the mission was to see the downtown area in a new light. On both a physical and philosophical level, the hope to see buildings under auspices that were completely new. Unexpectedly the time spent down there also gave me the chance to come in contact with people who are on the streets at night and early in the morning. Police officers, transients, roller skaters, bike gangs, and people leaving a show. In every instance we were placed together at a time when most folks are getting ready for bed or already asleep.

Outside the city walls of Sacramento lies Mono Lake. An ancient place outside Yosemite that was formed eons ago and was exposed when L.A. County began to drain the lake for usable water. Kutzadika’a Paiute are the areas native people and the original stewards of the lake. Once it had been drained it was found that the area supports many different birds, shrimp, alkali flies, and other animals.

Thank you for enjoying the images.
