River City Rowing Club invites adults with no rowing experience to join a Learn to Row class and experience this engaging sport! This class introduces the fundamentals of rowing in an eight-person rowing shell, focusing on the technique and execution of the sweep rowing stroke, rowing commands, boat handling, and the intricacies of crew dynamics. We also use rowing machines to practice technical concepts with group instruction and individual attention. Smaller boats are sometimes used based on the number of people at practice.

The program progressively challenges new rowers, resulting in a dramatic learning curve. Courses are co-ed and coached in a supportive and slightly competitive team manner—additional information on the RCRC website.
