Collapse by Allison Moore juxtaposes the relevant stresses of an economic downturn with the tragic breakdown of a Minneapolis highway bridge in 2007 as a metaphor for life’s unexpected ruins and surprising supports through the power of laughter. This dark comedy reflects modern societal issues and their effect on personal relationships. Moore sets the madly entertaining anxieties in the heartland of America. The play centers around the struggling marriage of Hannah, who faces a job cut amid fertility treatments and David, an unemployed survivor of the bridge collapse dealing with post traumatic stress disorder. The play is full of quick-witted, cathartic jokes structured around life’s serious realities that deeply connect humanity.

Collapse is the debut performance of B Street’s 2011-2012 Mainstage Season. Starring Elisabeth Nunziato, Jason Kuykendall, and Amy Resnick. Laura Baker and Buck Busfield direct.
