Homosocial: Icons and Reliquaries

As part of Sacramento’s photo month Kaneko Gallery will feature Homosocial: Icons and Reliquaries works by Brian Van Camerik. There will be a special lecture on Thursday April 18th in Raef Hall 161 Noon-1:20pm. There will be a reception for the artist and exhibition following the lecture at 1:30pm at Kaneko Gallery.

Homosocial is a LA based queer project that amasses images of homosocial couples and creates reliquaries, icons and other quasi-religious original art. Artist Brian Van Camerik of Homosocial creates these objects with vintage images of same-gender couples from the past to envision a future in which all people can appreciate and embrace the beauty of homosocial relationships.
