Now in its 19th year, Festival de la Familia (Festival of the Family) returns to Cal Expo. Families throughout Northern California are invited to experience one of the most festive family cultural events in California. This year's festival will offer a variety of local, regional, and national Latin-American music acts. The multi-ethnic event celebrates more than 20 Latino cultures all in one place, at one time, for one fun-filled day. Featured countries include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Peru, and Puerto Rico, to name a few.
Non-stop entertainment will be provided all day long, as Festival de la Familia offers a whole host of family friendly, safe events. Bishop Jaime Soto will officiate 9am mass, followed by opening ceremonies. Festival attendees will tempt their taste buds with an array of Latin flavors and savory dishes; view colorful arts and crafts or create their own; shop at the open-air Mercado; tap their toes and sway to the beats of genuine Latin music; peruse educational exhibits where they'll learn about Latin heritage; or get involved in one of the numerous community outreach opportunities. We're sorry they are charging for seniors this year. Over 60 have been free in the past. Probably won't attend.
