Living History Life in a Frontier Community: The Fort as a Community Center
March 6, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Arrive at Sutter’s Fort in the 1840’s and it is buzzing with activity – goods being sold, deals being done and just old fashioned gossiping about the news of the day. Political and social news traveled fast and heated debates arose as pioneers discussed how life in California would be different than ‘back home in the States.’ But at the same time, children play games with new friends, women learn about the latest fashion and friends gather to celebrate the joys and sorrows of their new lives in California.
