Holiday Magic

Why should only humans receive gifts during the holidays? It’s time for Holiday Magic—watch as the animals unwrap their holiday goodies! Throughout the day, special gifts will be delivered to the animals. See them pounce, tear, and stomp into their one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. Zoo keepers will be on hand to let you in on interesting animal facts and answer any questions you have.

Bring a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item and receive a $1 off your Zoo admission. The U.S. Marine Corps and 101.9 The Wolf will be taking your toy donations for Toys for Tots and food donations go the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services.

Schedule of Enrichments (all enrichments will happen at the animal's exhibit):
-10:30am: Orangutans: Fabric stockings and presents with edible treats
-11am: Bongo & Red River Hog: Pumpkin bowls with produce
-11:30am: Black & White Ruffed Lemur: Cardboard "gingerbread" house
-Noon: Sumatran Tiger: Holiday pinata, ice and a Christmas tree
-12:30pm: Hyena: Frozen "snowman" with edible treats
-1pm: Lion: Wrapped boxes and pinata with spices and ice
-2pm: River Otter: Frozen "ornaments" with fish inside
-2:30pm: Kangaroo & Emu: Christmas tree with edible vegetable ornaments
-3pm: Giraffe: Edible wreaths, Christmas tree and pinata

Visitors Tip: Keep an eye out for off-schedule enrichments that will be placed on exhibit at the zoo keeper's convenience.
