Sutter Street Theatre

Two founders of Stage Nine Theatre and one former owner of Garbeau's Dinner Theatre teamed up to create Sutter Street Theatre and Sutter Street Theatre Academy. A registered 501(c)(3) non-profit located on Sutter Street--the heart of Folsom's Historic District--the theatre presents a host of award winning comedies, musicals, and young people's theatre.

In 2009, Sutter Street Theatre was honored to have the highest number of nominations and wins at the annual Elly Awards (named after patron of the arts, Eleanor McClatchy). In addition to the theatre, Sutter Street Academy--housed in "The Annex" building directly behind the theatre--provides a wide range of learning opportunitites for both casual and committed artists from age five to ninety-five.

    The Hobbit Sutter Street Theatre The Hobbit Presented by Sutter Street Theatre at Sutter Street Theatre May 5-June 10, 2012 It's unusual for a modern work to become a classic so quickly, but Tolkien's "ring" stories, which began with The Hobbit, clearly are in this very special category.     The Odd Couple Sutter Street Theatre The Odd Couple Presented by Sutter Street Theatre at Sutter Street Theatre April 27-May 27, 2012 The classic comedy opens with a group of the guys assembled for poker in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison. If the mess that surrounds them is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has just been separated from his wife. Felix is fastidious, depressed, and tense. He appears down and seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean-freak and the slob ultimately decide to room...
