Get Your Motor Running

Start your 2nd Saturday off with the “Bent to the Task” exhibition at the California Railroad Museum. Artist Ray Carrington repurposed scrap and rail materials, like railroad spikes and hand tools, to create 35 sculptures representative of the millions of faceless Americans who built America’s railroad system. Plus, who could resist seeing some trains!?

Heating Up!

Jaya King brings her encaustic work to the Sparrow Gallery in “Skyline“, exploring landscapes and cityscapes alike. Her process of heating and maneuvering wax is used to express her love for landscapes in this unique exhibition.

While on R Street, stop in to BAWK Fried Chicken for brunch and experience everything from chicken and waffles to a Bawk Benedict!

Movement

In celebration of Black History Month, Brickhouse Art Gallery is hosting the work of local artist Aliyah Sidqe with “And the Beat Goes On.” Her work in this exhibition focuses on the Black Arts Movement of the ’60s and ’70s and conveys the movement’s important role in pushing forward activism and black pride.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Capital Public Radio will play host to artist Susan Silvester whose dream-like, moody pieces combine forest animals and fanciful characters inspired by our childhood memories. This Artist Reception is a chance to gain insight from the artist whose works can be seen throughout the community.

Gems

Finish the day with this dark comedy. Alabaster features an all-female cast, ranging from leading lady June to her wisecracking pet goat Weezy, in a Northern Alabama town that has just been devastated by a tornado. When a photographer arrives to document the aftermath, everyone is pushed to their limits in what is sure to be a unique production from Capital Stage Company.
