Jibe and the City of Sacramento’s Office of Arts and Culture invite North Natomas elders to participate in Wisdom Travels, an oral history art project focusing on stories about how we get around, other than by car.

Elders are invited to share stories of significant times in their lives marked by transportation choices such as walking, biking, and riding on public transit.

Do you or another North Natomas resident have a story to tell?

This project welcomes stories in all languages. If nominating an elder whose main language is not English, we ask that you provide an interpreter.

Selected North Natomas participants will be interviewed and photographed by the artist, who will then create a series of artworks which will be shared with the community.

The project is accepting stories until February 28, 2021.

In early 2020, the City of Sacramento’s Office of Arts and Culture launched its first Artist in Residence Program. One local artist was selected to develop a community-based art project in collaboration with a local organization in each city district. Documentary photographer Janine Mapurunga was selected for District 1, where she was paired with Jibe. Wisdom Travels is the result of this collaboration.
