About Jan Miller:
When beginning a painting, I usually look for a concept to portray and then a mood of the painting is established. I do think of paintings as a form of language. It is a way to communicate that crosses over written or spoken words. It enters a visual understanding. It is at this time that the viewer can perceive a story or a mood depending on their interpretation. Because of this, it is most rewarding when someone makes a connection to one of my paintings.

About Sandy Allie:
The sculptures in this exhibit range from clay sketches to bronze sculpture (and some fun in between). I’m a realist figure sculptor who works from life because this is where I believe truth is found. My drawings and clay sketches are an integral part of my work.

For me, the medium does not determine the value of a work of art. (though the cost of executing a bronze sculpture does in fact add a dimension to its “cost”). Considering this, I often (using molds I made for bronze sculpture) create sculptures in clay that will own its own dimension of personality and individual expression. From reworking the clay to surface treatments and firing methods each sculpture carries its own story.

Masks are required and a limited number of guests allowed in the gallery.

ACAI Studios & Gallery Health Protocols:
-Are continuing all of the health practices we have previously implemented.
-Now require students and visitors to sign in with their name phone and email. This will facilitate contact tracing if needed.
-Have added touchless soap dispensers and towel dispensers in all bathrooms.
-Have implemented a keyless entry system that tracks when members visit the studio. This will facilitate contact tracing if needed.
-Have increased our regular sanitation routines.
