California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts

Every year for the past three decades Davis has been transformed into the epicenter of ceramic art. This year, as the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts celebrates its 31st anniversary, it will once again bring three days of workshops and presentations for conference participants and numerous gallery exhibitions throughout town, which are free and open to the public. This year’s conference will include artists Patti Warashina, Kim Dickey, Dan Anderson, Cynthia Consentino, Stephen Braun, and Shalene Valenzuela. The day will also include a free kids with clay event featuring artist Heidi Bekebrede.

The conference brings this ultimate ceramic-sculpture event to town with lectures, demonstrations, student exhibitions, and student critiques.

The Opening Reception at The Artery will be free to the public, and the majority of the artists will be in attendance.

With over 40 participating schools from throughout California, this conference is one of the largest and most diverse ceramic events in Northern California, with demonstrations, lectures, and student exhibitions.

The public can view shows at the John Natsoulas Gallery (the host gallery) as well as The Artery, the The Davis Arts Center, The Pence Gallery and many more venues throughout town.

Conference participants will meet face-to-face with distinguished ceramic sculptors they might otherwise only read about, see and hear from the artists what makes them top in their field and surround themselves with the top ceramic art and artists of today and the ideas of the artists of tomorrow.
