City of Trees Scottish Highland Dance Competition

Dancers from all over northern California and beyond will compete onstage according to their ages and experience levels.

Scottish Highland dancing has a rich history dating back to the 11th century. The Scottish diaspora has had a stronghold in northern California since the mid-1800s! The dances each tell a unique story, and dancers are ranked according to how technically correct their performance is.

This event is hosted by Scot Dance Sacramento, a collective of Sacramento-area Highland dancing teachers working together to empower dancers by teaching life skills through performance and competitions in traditional Scottish Highland dancing.
