Creative Mending and Embellishing your Clothes with Patchwork

Keep your old clothing out of the landfills and keep more money in your pocket by learning fun and creative techniques on how to give your current clothing a new life. Not to mention you will look super cool and unique in your personally embellished art to wear.

This is a bi-monthly series of creative workshops that includes:
-Learning new skills focusing on handwork and fiber art
-Taking home a handmade piece (or pieces) of art each class
-Building community and creativity
-Practicing Sustainability
-Building a deeper connection to your intuitive creativity

All skill levels welcome. The group will focus on basic skills of each technique in each class.

Note: This class series is ideal for Ages 14 and up.

Wednesday, November 14: Scrap Patchwork Patch:
Cover a hole or stain, fortify the knees in your or a child’s pants, or just add some personal embellishments to give your piece of clothing a new life. Bring a pair jeans or sturdy cotton pants, skirt, top or jacket to add your unique patch to.If you do not have a piece of clothing to bring, that is ok! You can still make the patch and take it home with you to give to a friend or save for the perfect piece.

Patch materials will be provided. If there are fabric scraps around your house you would like to bring, please do!

Wednesday, November 28: Talisman Embroidered Patch

Talisman: an object, typically an inscribed ring or stone, that is thought to have magic powers and to bring good luck. The class will learn the basic techniques of embroidering and focusing on creating symbols that remind us of your magic and power everyday.
