Cyanotye Prints

Cyanotype is one of the few non-silver techniques used to make photographic images. The cyanotype was invented in the 1840s by English scientist and astronomer Sir John Herschel and it was Anne Atkin who brought it to its notoriety. In this workshop, participants will learn the basic principles and chemistry of cyanotypes. The class will also cover substrates, exposure and the possibilities of this historic process. Students are encouraged to bring digital images, botanicals and collage materials from home to use for contact printing.  Verge Center for the Arts will have lots of options to work with, if participants do not have personal materials. All other materials will be provided. This will be an introductory class and no experience necessary. Can be messy so please bring an apron or wear clothes that are okay to get ruined.

About the Instructor:
Saba has recently completed a Masters in the preservation of photography in Toronto Canada. Alongside her expertise in photography and historical process, she has a background in curatorial practice and collections management.
