Food Adventure Dinner Series: Yu Sheng

Food Literacy Center is kicking off its Food Adventure Dinner Series with a Lunar New Year celebration featuring a Yu Sheng noodle salad.

This is a favorite annual tradition at Food Literacy Center. Yu Sheng is a Cantonese-style raw salad traditionally enjoyed during Lunar New Year. Each Yu Sheng ingredient symbolizes a wish for the new year. Participants shout wishes and toss the ingredients with chopsticks—the higher your toss, the higher your fortunes grow!

The four-course dinner features creative Lunar New Year dishes by local chefs, Toki Sawada of Binchoyaki, Christine Chang of Taiwan Best Mart, and Mandy Lee of Last Supper Society. Bailarin Cellars will provide custom wine-pairings.

This program is critical, because rates of food and nutrition insecurity among households with children tripled during the pandemic and remain high.
