For the Words I Couldn’t Say

ARTHOUSE is proud to present the art exhibition “For the Words I Couldn’t Say” at ARTHOUSE Gallery on historic R Street.

Please join us as we feature the abstract oil paintings of Sayako Dairiki at ARTHOUSE on R Gallery, 1021 R Street in Sacramento. The opening reception, including an opportunity to meet the artist, is Saturday, March 9, from 5 – 8 pm.

This exhibit is curated by Arthouse resident artists June Daskalakis and Sarah Whyte.

Sayako Dairiki is a Japanese Asian Modern & Contemporary Artist who was born in Mojiko, Japan. She is a painter, public arts sculptor and mosaic artist. She lives on a ranch near Winters, CA in the foothills of California’s Coastal  Range, where the quintessential landscape of rolling hills, oaks and sky surrounding her home studio serves as inspiration for the world of art that she creates.

Sayako Dairiki’s solo show “For the Words I Couldn’t Say” features abstract oil paintings filled with rich symbology. Her paintings, scaled from miniature to large, explore the world of imagery and life of the subconscious mind through visions coming from deep within the psyche. Here lies a place where boundaries between time and space do not exist and knowledge finds itself. Sayako Dairiki’s paintings give expression to these visions through form and color.

Sayako has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Japan, Sacramento, Davis, and the San Francisco Bay area. Several key galleries and museums such as the PALS Gallery in Fukuoka, Japan and Kitakyushu City Museum, Japan have featured Sayako Dairiki’s work. Her commissions for public environmental sculpture and mosaic artwork, are on display throughout Northern California.

In addition to the Gallery Show, ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public for Second Saturday, March 9 from 5 – 8 pm.
