Intercultural Reflections: A Festival of the Arts

In association with The Macbeth Project, Sinag-tala Filipino Theater and Performing Arts Association, and Matriarchy Theatre, and with support from the California Arts Council, Teatro Espejo presents Intercultural Reflections: A Festival of the Arts focusing on the power of the word and celebrating multilingual, bicultural aesthetics centering and honoring lived experiences and contemporary narratives of BIPOC artists.

Matriarchy Theatre is a performing arts company based in Sacramento, California, founded by actor/director/professor Nicole C. Limón. Matriarchy aims to center women’s voices and stories, with a focus on creating opportunities for women of color in theatre.

The MacBeth Project was built out of a community outcry for more African American representation in the classical theater arts. It is a 5-year project producing the story of MacBeth, co-created with a different cultural asset each year, infusing the productions with both cultural identities.

Sinag-tala Filipino Theater and Performing Arts Association (SFTPAA) is a Sacramento-based charitable 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing community members the opportunity to promote the works of Filipino musical, dance, literary, and cultural artists through the study, interpretation and staging of theater and performing arts.

Teatro Espejo has been bringing theatre to the community for more than 45 years. Under the guidance of Artistic Director and Professor Emeritus, Manuel José Pickett, Teatro Espejo has remained dedicated to offering opportunities to teatristas of all ages and skill levels. Our seasons honor the rich legacy and history of teatro by producing important classic works from the Chicano/Latinx theatre canon, and groundbreaking contemporary works by new, emerging, and established playwrights representing the Latinx diaspora.
