Introduction to Sculptural Handbuilding

Introduction to Sculptural Handbuilding explores nontraditional forms that focus on expression through shape. In this three-session class, you will brainstorm what inspires you to create–your life experiences, the love of art, or just for fun–and use that inspiration to make beautiful ceramic art! The goal of this class is to empower people to create art they are proud of, to make something to connect to and display in their homes. Tess will teach you different handbuilding techniques such as coiling and slab work and take you step-by-step through the process of creating, trimming, and glazing your ceramic piece. You’ll choose what to make, whether it’s a household item you can actually use such as a cup, bowl or vase or something more decorative and abstract. All finished pieces will be fired and available to pick up at a later date. This class is designed for artists of all levels so whether it’s your 1st or 100th time, come out and create with creatives alike!
