La Onda Tejana: A Talk by Andy Porras

The Raza Vinyl Collective is hosting their second plática of the year at Sol Collective. Chicano journalist, historian, and educator Andy Porras will deliver a plática titled “La Onda Tejana.”

La plática de Porras will be based on personal experiences and interviews with Tejano musicians pre-Selena era. Porras will discuss the lives of some early stars and events that highlighted their careers as well as other interesting (or quirky) incidents. Tejano musicians will include Laura Canales, Lisa López, Los 2 Gilbertos, Esteban Jordan, Little Joe, Johnny, y Rocky Hernández, Lydia Mendoza, Hermanos Flores, Rene & Rene, Sonny Ozuna y más. Porras will add some of his life’s ‘believe-it-or-not’ escapades. There will be a question and answer segment at the end of the evening.
