Luminous Layers

The Mills Arts and Culture Center is Rancho Cordova’s premiere gallery with displays of local artists to world renowned artists like David Hockney. The Sierra Wax Group is a Sacramento Metro art group who’s members focus on art made with wax using the ancient technique of Encaustic as well as, Cold Wax Painting.

Encaustic combines bees wax and demar varnish crystals along with pigment to color the wax, and then applied in layers and fused together to make luscious and luminous layers. Cold wax process combines the cold wax compound together with oil paint to create a matte finish.
