Join Stace at Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento for an evening sandal making! In this workshop you will learn to make your own custom pair of sandals made from sturdy leather soles and 0.5″ heels and supple leather straps and insoles. Together the group will explore the sandal-making process, from cutting the straps to fitting them to your own feet.
You will reference a handful of simple sandal designs as a jumping off point for making your pair of dream sandals. You can choose to keep it simple and make the design as-is, or modify and customize your design to your heart’s content! If you are set on creating a specific design, we can usually make it happen.
Stace will bring the basic leather colors: black, espresso, caramel, and natural vegetable tanned leather, as well as an assortment of colorful leather and suede.
Over the course of making your sandals, you will also learn the basics of leather crafting and you will become familiar with the essential tools and supplies of shoemaking.
As you finish your sandals, we will sand down the edges, refining the fit and the finish. You will be able to walk away from the workshop in your custom handmade sandals! You will also take away an outline of the sandal making process and a list of suppliers if you’d like to continue with sandal making.
