Make a trio of stacking rings in sterling silver, brass and copper using color matching solder or a pair of one inch hoop earrings in sterling silver with fish hook ear wires. Participants will go home with completed stackable rings or a pair of small hoop earrings. Students will need to know ring sizes if they are making rings for someone else.
In this class participants will learn to form rings, a fundamental skill in jewelry making as well as safety basics, jewelry chemical basics, forming tools for rings, chemicals for soldering, using different types and grades of solder, troubleshooting solder seams, texturing metal using forming hammers and finishing and polishing work.
All tools and materials will be provided but all tools will be shared. Please wear closed toe shoes.
Students may bring a charcoal soldering block, butane torch, needle files, flush cutting pliers, chain nose pliers and any other tools students would like to use for class if they have them. Please label personal tools.
