Spell #7 by Ntozake Shange

Spell #7 by Ntozake Shange, under the direction of Dr. Melinda Wilson Ramey, choreographed by Dr. Linda Sharon Goodrich, along with Assistant Director and Dramaturge Bree Robinson, is performed in a bar- an actor’s bar. This set provides a ‘safe’ environment for the nine struggling artists we meet, who can express their hopes, fears, chagrins and dreams during a typical night out after the curtains come down on and off-Broadway.

The rest of the play is a sometimes desperate, often unsettling, yet deeply joyous celebration of the fight to maintain sanity and personal integrity in a world where the rules have been dictated, rather than chosen.
