The Art of Aging: Ceramic Sculptures

With support from the California Arts Council, Sacramento Fine Arts Center will host a series of multimedia art projects, focusing on the positive impact art has on the health on wellbeing of aging adults. The products of these art activities will be documented and compiled into a book. All participants are invited to share their art in a September Exhibition.

Participants may only register for one Art of Aging workshop in the series. All participants will be photographed.

William Ishmael is a long standing artist and active participant in the Sacramento arts community. While most of his works are in private collections, his works are also in the permanent collection of the Sacramento Metropolitan Art Commission ( in the Sacramento County Admin Building), Kaiser Health and Dignity Health, Orrick Law Firm, and the Warehouse Artist Lofts. He is represented by b.sakata garo gallery. He is also chair of the Speakers Committee of the Kingsley Art Club.

His works can currently be seen at The Pence Gallery in Davis as part of the ‘Slice’ exhibit, in the Robert Matsui Gallery in Sacramento City Hall as part of the “Textures” exhibit, in Mayor Steinberg’s office because it was part of a monthly rotation of local artists to exhibit in his office but became ‘trapped’ when the COVID shutdown closed City Hall, on the utility box at 10th and I streets, and in the Fine Arts exhibit at the State Fair.

Cydney was introduced to ceramics by William Ishmael, finding her artistic nature after leaving the business world. She is producing a body of work which reflects her love of gardening, plants, and domestic arts. Flowers capture her desire to celebrate the moment.
