Touch the Heart Gala

Dim Sum in Cantonese means, “Touch the Heart,” the theme for the 2023 gala. Thousands of years ago, travelers along the Silk Road needed safe places to find comfort and rest, often stopping at tea houses along their route. These tea houses also served food, called “Dim Sum,” with the tea. From there, the “Yum Cha” ceremony evolved, where families sat around tables conversing, laughing, and creating memories while eating these delectable bites of food. In many ways, My Sister’s House is like those tea houses. Survivors stop here for nourishment, rest, and comfort as they move on from abusers. So this year, we invite you to join us as we all sit down around a table and participate in the celebration of Yum Cha.
