Ordo Sakhna

Ordo Sakhna is a Kyrgyz folk music performance group which introduces the epic nomadic civilization of Central Asia to audiences worldwide. The musicians display the beauty, color and diversity of many authentic Kyrgyz instruments and dress styles while performing traditional Kyrgyz music. The ten person ensemble presents a repertoire of ancient-traditional melodies and dastans (short sections of epics) which have been passed through generations for many centuries. One of the exciting instruments utilized in the stories and songs is the Komuz, a three-stringed lute which is played rapidly with extreme precision and illustrative gestural movements.

All performers are graduates from conservatories and many are laureates of regional and international festivals. The music of Ordo Sakhna is awe inspiring, humorous and deep all at once and seems to evoke a transcendental healing quality from its ancient cultural roots and connection to nature.
