Subliminal Perceptions: July ACAI Gallery Show

Subliminal Perceptions describes the July gallery show here at ACAI Studios & Gallery. With a focus on surrealism, this show highlights the intriguing work of Nola Steuer joining the subconscious world of dream and mental health with expressions in watercolor, gouache and acrylics.  Sandy McCann’s mastery of the biomorphic ceramic artform entices the viewer to creative interpretation and association with provocative imaging.

Nola’s work consists of often genderless figures interacting with subconscious complex emotions through fantasy landscapes and interactions.  Inspired by both classic and contemporary surrealist artists, Nola’s vibrant use of color, perspective and light/dark contrasts add a richness that draws the viewer into her inner world.

Sandy’s ceramic work is rich in textures, colors and the interplay of glazes and oxides on organic and biomorphic expressions. Her perspectives blend the inner connection of emotion and spiritual depth in the outer design of the human anatomy and natural world.

Unaware of each other’s work, the collective display of both Nola and Sandy’s artistry side by side highlights a symbiotic relationship, perhaps one all of us might experience in our deeper subconscious.
