Papermaking Class

Beat the heat and spend the morning playing in the water making your very own recycled paper. You’ll learn how to keep bushels of paper products (and even laundry lint) out of the landfills by turning them into handmade paper perfect for cards, stationery, handmade books, or even hanging on your wall.

All materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring any items to add (i.e. dried flower petals, leaves, fibers, photograph remnants). Using a mold and deckle, you will learn traditional dip and pour methods for papermaking. This is a great activity for kids and adults alike. You will go home with several sheets of your own paper and instructions for making a mold and deckle out of inexpensive materials.

This workshop is led by Bethanie Humphreys, a local poet, mixed media artist, and curator for the Sacramento Poetry Center Artist’s Gallery.
